PortSwigger is the team behind ‘Burp Suite’, the industry’s go-to platform for web security testing. Founded in the UK, they’ve built a global reputation for giving security pros the tools to break, fix and harden the web.

When their new TA Director (a former Bond client) joined PortSwigger, he knew the business was about to enter hypergrowth and that building the right foundation early was critical.

Up until that point, hiring had been heavily agency-led. There wasn’t a defined TA function or the infrastructure to support scale. With ambitious goals across the UK and a brand new US operation in Atlanta, PortSwigger needed a partner who could embed quickly, build systems, and raise the bar.

Bond embedded with Portswigger in early 2025 with a three-person team, alongside we helped hire two in-house “Talent Champions” to carry the torch internally when we offboard. Our initial brief was to support hiring across: Finance, Sales and Engineering.

The hiring story was centred around finding the top 1% in cybersecurity. Successful candidates need the ‘swig-factor’ and must not only be technically skilled but also be value-aligned and pass the culture interview.

Together, we built a recruitment ecosystem that could keep pace with PortSwigger’s growth. Within months, the company opened a second UK office in London and expanded into the US, launching its Atlanta hub.

 

 

 

Transforming the TA function

 

We worked on improving processes, candidate experience and efficiencies, leaving the team with a function that’s future-proof.

We went on a mission to build the frameworks, insights, and culture-first TA capability to support Portswigger’s famously high standard across two continents.

  • Rebuilt the recruitment process
    From the ATS upwards, `designing a new company-wide recruitment flow that could scale, automate, and support hiring quality at speed.
  • AI hiring manager toolkit
    Developing a custom GPT-powered assistant for Hiring Managers, designed to automate tasks, provide personalised guidance, and enhance decision-making.
  • Data & insights
    Built dashboards, capacity planners, and research foundations across compensation, market mapping, and workforce planning, spotting where AI could drive smarter decisions.
  • Graduate assessment scheme
    Created a full graduate attraction and assessment campaign, from marketing packs and storyboards to sourcing strategies and blog concepts.
  • Culture-first mentorship
    Supported onboarding, mentoring, and buddying for new starters, embedding Bond fully into the PortSwigger culture,  on-site three days a week and treated as part of the team.
