Medivet is a leading provider of veterinary care services across the UK, Germany, Spain, and France. They operate a network of over 500 branches and 27 state-of-the-art, 24-hour veterinary centres.




Transforming veterinary hiring, from the inside out
Finding it difficult to attract talent and heavily relying on agencies, Bond was bolted onto Medivet’s in-house team to support them hire in a challenging market. Bond was tasked with recruiting across 5 regions of the UK.
Optimising the recruitment process for scale and success
We started by ensuring Medivet’s recruitment processes were fit for purpose and aligned with the needs of the business:
- Conducted a comprehensive 5-stage talent theory audit
- Developed a targeted headhunting strategy to identify, engage, and screen top candidates
- Created the first screening documents to streamline the selection process
- Introduced 13 new recruitment channels, including Facebook, Reed, and job boards, to broaden candidate reach
- Strengthened Medivet’s employer brand, recommending strategies to improve its appeal to candidates
A candidate-focused approach to the hiring process
Our next step was to create a hiring process that truly prioritised the candidate experience:
- Implemented a 3-stage interview process, ensuring all qualified applicants were personally engaged, allowing us to better understand their needs and build rapport
- Designed comprehensive candidate packs to provide transparency and clarity
- Led a revamped outreach strategy, placing emphasis on promoting Medivet’s unique benefits package
- Developed new templates for offers and benefits to improve the candidate experience
Supporting the TA transformation
Beyond immediate hiring needs, we focused on equipping the in-house team with the tools, knowledge, and strategies for a future-ready talent function. Using a coaching approach we:
- Delivered 24 pieces of project work that drove tangible impact for the team
- Conducted two LinkedIn workshops on headhunting and leveraging networks with LinkedIn Recruiter
- Led DE&I and Bias training sessions to foster a more inclusive hiring environment
- Provided coaching on hire manager training and a new reach-out strategy
Results were proud of
- Increased hiring manager satisfaction with the recruitment process by 59%
- Completed 24 project pieces, contributing to both process improvements and upskilling of the team
- Achieved 25 successful hires
- Executed 28,000 reach-outs and 305 candidate screens
- Reduced average time to hire to 25 days, with an average time to offer of just 7 days
